How to get Involved

  • Nominate

We all thrive when we take care of the members of our community that need connection the most. Nominate a Métis individual in B.C. who would benefit from participation, fully funded by the project.

Nominations are unfortunately temporarily closed as new funds are raised to make more kits. Please consider contributing to the project to keep it going.

  • Donate

For those of us who are able, donations help to provide more Ribbon Skirt kits, free of charge to individuals who otherwise wouldn’t have the opportunity, and to keep our sliding scale structure for those purchasing kits.

  • Follow and join our community

Join us on Facebook and Instagram and follow the progress of the project and its impact in the community, calls to action and updates about exciting new additions to the project.

I would love your support and participation and to build community around this project.

  • Purchase a Ribbon Skirt or Kit

Join our tapestry of Ribbon Skirts!

Please visit www.indigenousnouveau.com/shop to look at the available pre-made skirts and ribbon skit kits as well as all the other beautiful products I have available.

  • Share Your Stories

Are you an elder, Ribbon Skirt Maker, Knowledge keeper or a story teller who wants to help contribute to the richness of our community?

We are always looking for contributions of anecdotes, stories, family history and Métis cultural history to enrich the experience of those participating in the program. Sharing and learning together brings us all closer to reclamation.

  • Share a Skirt: Donate your time

“Share a Skirt” program - Donate your sewing time!

There are so many ways to contribute to your community. For those who would like to donate their time, there are members of our community who cannot sew their own skirts but still would benefit from having a Ribbon Skirt of their own. I am compiling a list of Individuals who have the time and the knowhow to put together ribbon skirts and pair them with a kit and an elder, differently-abled or isolated member of our community to get them a finished ribbon skirt. I will posts availability of free kits as I am able to put them together and get them funded, and with a maker who has the time to work on a skirt for them
